This level of engagement will involve regular meetings and long-term, significant organizing as part of the team.

In July 2022, Decarcerate Sacramento launched our Jail Hotline. This is a phone number that folks inside Sacramento County jails can call at no cost, which is answered by volunteers. We always need more volunteers to answer our hotline!

Once a month, we table outside the jail in coalition with Anti-Police Terror Project to connect with recently released individuals and their loved ones and provide mutual aid. This effort is operated and sustained by our volunteers, and we always need more hands!

We also sustain a pool of people who are interested in showing up for day-of type events. These events can be things like making public comments at Board of Supervisors meetings, mailing know-your-rights materials to those inside the jails, or joining our visiting team to visit folks inside the jail.
